SOLUTION: The invention relates to a sulfonic acid-type liquid crystal material having a polymerizable group and expressed by general formula (1) (R1 is H or methyl; A is an alkylene, -C6 H4 -CH2 -, -CO-O-(CH2 )n - or -CO-; and B is an alkylene), a method for producing the material, a proton transporting material produced by using the liquid crystal material and a proton transporting method.
