PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To encode and record attribute information peculiar to a disk so as not to be affected by a defect such as a foreign particle, and to improve synchronism pull-in capability.;SOLUTION: An ECC (error correcting code) circuit 20 applies an error- correcting code generation processing having a Hamming distance which satisfies predetermined conditions to disk ID information stored in a register 21. The Hamming distance which satisfies the predetermined conditions is a distance between codes obtained by enlarging the ratio of the number of parities to the number of data, thereby improving error correction performance. This disk ID information recording apparatus uses 3 blocks of disk ID information encoded by RSs (32, 16, 17). Codes used for coding per block are the RSs (32, 16, 17), and a long distance code (LDC) having a large distance 17 to the number 16 of data constitutes the disk ID information.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
