PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reagent for detecting a single nucleotide polymorphism of a DNA base sequence by using one kind of beads having the same particle diameter and to provide a method for detecting the same. PSOLUTION: Beads immobilizing a probe to be hybridized to a DNA base sequence having no single nucleotide polymorphism is mixed with beads immobilizing a probe to be hybridized to a DNA base sequence having a single nucleotide polymorphism to give a reagent, which is added to a solution of a sample containing a fluorescence-labeled DNA base sequence to be examined to carry out hybridization reaction. The beads after the reaction are passed through a flow cytometer and the single nucleotide polymorphism of the DNA base sequence to be examined is judged by the obtained fluorescence intensity histogram pattern.
