PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the dynamic range of a multi-level optical recording medium more accurately. ;SOLUTION: The measuring method for characteristic data of the multi-level optical recording medium capable of multi-level recording to one virtual recording cell has the steps of measuring the light reflection factor of a virtual recording cell array S0 having a plurality of unrecorded virtual recording cells successively formed and measuring the light reflection factor of a virtual cell array S7 having a plurality of virtual recording cells with an allocated recording mark Mg successively formed.
