PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate heat exchanger united with a pump, whereby the flow speed of primary coolant in a pipe connected to a reactor vessel can be enhanced, no gas is entrained from the free liquid surface of the primary coolant, performance is enhanced, a space for disposing an appliance can be reduced, and workability for repairing the appliance is excellent. SOLUTION: In this intermediate heat exchanger united with the pump, an entrance plenum for the primary coolant is formed in the upper part of a container having a closed structure and a lower plenum for the primary coolant is formed in the lower part of the container so as not to have the free liquid surface of the primary coolant, and a primary coolant pump vertically provided while passing through the entrance plenum for the primary coolant, the suction part of which is directly connected to the lower plenum for the primary plenum, the heat transfer part of the intermediate heat exchanger, which is provided in the container in the outer periphery of the primary coolant pump to carry out heat exchange between the primary coolant and the secondary coolant, and a secondary coolant container which makes the secondary coolant flow into the heat transfer part of the intermediate heat exchanger and flow out from it, and covers the lower plenum of the primary coolant, are provided in the container.
