PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a variant carbamoyl phosphate synthetase which has desensitized feedback inhibition and keeps high activity and a bacterium of the genus Escherichia retaining the variant carbamoyl phosphate synthetase.;SOLUTION: A bacterium of the genus Escherichia having a variant carbamoyl phosphate synthetase in which amino acids sequence corresponding to 947 position to 951 position in a wild-type carbamoyl phosphate synthetase are substituted with any of amino acid sequences of sequence numbers 1-9 (reference to the specification) and feedback inhibition by uridine 5'- monophosphate is desensitized, is cultured in a medium, a compound derived from carbamoyl phosphate is formed and accumulated in the medium and the compound is recovered from the culture solution to produce L-arginine, citrulline and a pyrimidine derivative.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
