PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a program for determining the inspection timing for in-vessel structures which realize safe and economical operation of a reactor by omitting unnecessary defect tests, to determine the time the necessary defect tests are to be carried out. SOLUTION: For this method, which determines the inspection timing for structures in a reactor, the time starting from the measurement of characteristic values to the implementation of a defect test for the in-vessel structures is determined (St103) by measuring (St100) a characteristic value, such as the material characteristic value of the in-vessel structures or the dose of neutron irradiation and making reference to the change due to aging of the characteristic values predicted, according to the operation of the reactor from the characteristic values and the operating condition of it.
