PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically interrogate a mail pending at a mail center effectively.;SOLUTION: When a portable telephone transmitting/receiving an e-mail to/from a mail center is located on the outside of a service area, the portable telephone detects returning back in the service area and interrogates a mail automatically 31 in order to acquire an e-mail 30 pending at the mail center and then receives an e-mail 32. Frequent useless interrogation can be prevented even under an unstable situation where movement between the inside and outside of the service area is repeated frequently by controlling the operation such that interrogation is executed only when the portable telephone stayed in the service area for a predetermined time T or longer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
