"SYSTEM FOR MAINTAINING ONE OR MORE UNDERWELLS, AND METHODS FOR MANAGING AN OFF-COAST HYDROCARBON FIELD, AND FOR MAKING A PLURALITY OF UNDERWATER WELLS". An offshore field management system includes a composite lift (50), a floating buoy (80) and a service vessel (100). The lift (50) extends from an underwater wellhead (38) to the float (80). Leads (74, 76), preferably provided on the lift (50), are connected to a well telemetry system. The float (50) has a floating or semi-submersible hull (82) that includes a hatch (90) covering the moonpool (86) to receive the lift (50). The float (80) preferably includes satellite communication hardware (110) and computer systems in communication with the well telemetry system via conductors embedded in the elevator (74, 76). The well environment can be remotely monitored using the float communications system. Maintenance of the well in the oilfield is performed using the service vessel (100). The service vessel 100 is preferably a self-supporting installation equipped with the equipment and materials necessary to perform predetermined well maintenance operations. Service ship personnel employ equipment and materials in the lift (50) via the float hatch (9) after the float (80) has been docked in a bay (124) formed on the service ship (100).
