Described is a DNA sequence that codes for expression of a human Death Inducer-Obliterator 1 (DIO-1) gene and the polypeptide derived from the DNA sequence. Expression vectors containing such sequences and host cells transformed with such expression vectors are also disclosed, as are methods for the expression of the novel DIO-1 polypeptide of the and uses thereof.
