The invention relates to a system that is intended to be used when the control mechanism of an operating apparatus, such as a medium-voltage load-breaking switch, is independent of the actual load-breaking switch and can be removed in order to be replaced, repaired or for maintenance work to be carried out on the assembly. The inventive system is characterised in that it comprises an intermediate coupling element between the switch axle and the control mechanism and said intermediate element remains coupled to the switch axle when the control mechanism is removed. The aforementioned intermediate element comprises a flange (5) to which are associated numerous cylinders (8) which are held in semi-cylindrical housings (7) by means of an elastic element (9). In this way, said assembly can be used to block the different positions of the load-breaking switch when the control mechanism is removed, so that, when the control mechanism is returned, it is coupled correctly in accordance with the position of the switch.
