MULTIPLEX TRANSMISSION SYSTEM FOR REPORTING ALERT INFORMATION TO THE CONVERSION DEVICE ON THE RECEIVING SIDE WITHOUT USING A DEDICATED FRAME

A multiplex transmission system is disclosed inwhich, in the event of a problem between a converterand a client device on the transmitting side, theoccurrence of this problem is reported to a converteron the receiving side without using specially dedicatedframes. When a problem occurs between the converter onthe transmitting side and an FC device on thetransmitting side and the loss of optical input (LOS)or the loss of character synchronization (LCS) isdetected, the converter on the transmitting side usesvalues that are not being used of the control characterindicators of compression control codes in 64B/65Bcodes following 64B/65B conversion to transmit to theconverter on the receiving side the alert informationLOS or LCS. The converter on the receiving side, upondetecting this alert information, transmits a 10B-ERRsignal or halts optical output to the FC device on thereceiving side.
