A System for discovery of privacy aspects of electronic information in anenterprise computer system (ECS), comprising a module for inputtingdescriptions of the sources of the electronic information in the ECS, a meta-data file including privacy aspects of user specified elements, the elementsdefining data and actors within the ECS and relationships between thedescriptions and the data. The system also includes at least one or more rulesfor controlling the use of the elements; and an inference module receiving asinputs the meta-data file and the rules for generating new informationregarding the electronic information, the new information being discoveredprivacy aspects of the electronic information.
