The invention relates to a method and system for conducting model-based optimizing plant planning and scheduling as well as creating schedules of process-specific or method-specific plant operations, particularly of a manufacturing or production operation in the processing industry. The invention involves the use of at least one data processing device (20) having an input and display unit that interacts with at least one data memory (22) and with the MES (manufacturing execution system) (30) of the plant operation. To this end, the data processing device (20) firstly conducts a dynamic modeling and, optionally, a simulation as well as an analysis of the plant operation. Afterwards, a schedule (27), which is optimally matched to the respective plant operation and to the existing order situation and provided for ensuring a technically and economically efficient plant operation is created based on a model while taking available resources and raw, auxiliary and production materials (36) into account. In the event of disruptions (32, 34) in the plant operation, which are reported to the data processing device (20), an optimized and dynamic adaptation of the schedule (27) is effected in an automated manner whereby creating an updated schedule (29). The respective schedule (27, 29) to be executed is, after its creation, transmitted to the MES for conversion or execution.
