A plastic article consists of foil, e.g. transfer foil, hot embossing foil, or laminating foil or is provided with a foil and includes a colorant mixture of not less than 3 different components, each of which is a pigment or other colorant and can be bleached with a laser under conditions specific for the component. Each of the 3 components cannot be (substantially) bleached under the specific laser conditions for the other components. An Independent claim is also included for the production of a multicolored image on or in the article by bleaching a point with laser radiation in stages under conditions specific for (1) only one of the 3 components and (2) only one of the other components.
