PURPOSE: A microorganism Trichoderma reesei X18 and a process for producing xylanase using the same microorganism are provided to cheaply mass-produce xylanase. CONSTITUTION: The microorganism Trichoderma reesei X18 (KCTC 10050BP) having improved xylanase producing activity is provided, wherein Trichoderma reesei X18 (KCTC 10050BP) is isolated by inoculating Trichoderma reesei KCTC 6952 on potato dextrose agar medium and culturing it at 28 deg. C for 10 days to recover spores; suspending the spores in physiological saline solution and irradiating the spore solution with 0.5 kGy of gamma rays to induce mutation of the spores; inoculating the spore solution on 0.5% xylan-containing Czapek-Dox agar medium and culturing it at 28 deg. C for 4 days; and selecting a strain showing the excellent xylanase activity.
