Cassette (A) for transgenic expression of nucleic acid (NA) contains, functionally linked to NA: (a) the promoter of the LOX5 gene from Arabidopsis thaliana (1369 bp sequence (S1)); (b) deletion variants of (a), of 861 bp (S2) or 521 bp (S3); or (c) a functional equivalent or fragment of (a) or (b) with essentially the same promoter activity, is new. All sequences are given in the specification. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a vector containing (A); (2) transgenic expression of NA by placing it under control of the specified promoters; (3) transgenic organism transformed with (A) or the vector of (1); (4) cell cultures, parts or transgenic replicative material from the organisms; and (5) preparation of pharmaceuticals or fine chemicals in transgenic organisms.
