It has been found that by mixing of particles of diameter within the nano range, preferably Si dioxide, it is possible to increase the refractive index of a silicone matrix without additional light scattering. A flexible laser applicator for thermal treatment of biological tissue by means of laser radiation via a light conductor (1) whose distal end is enveloped by a jacket (2) transparent to laser radiation and which projects beyond the fiber end (sic), while a light with a silicone matrix (3) is located in front of the fiber end with embedded scattered particles (4), and a synthetic plastic matrix, preferably in silicone, in which are mixed-in non-scattering particles (5) of diameter a few nanometers, preferably of silicon dioxide, preferably of concentration 1-10%, while the distal end of the jacket (2) is closed with an opaque end piece (6) transparent to laser radiation.
