The knowledge base comprises parity equations containing only measurable values. These are generated from a model of the technical system, that is examined using the diagnosis system. The model comprises bond graphs for partial systems and function descriptions for components of the technical system. In automatic model generation a directed graph is produced for the model elementary blocks with stepwise deformation used to generate the parity equations. The invention also relates to a corresponding device and computer program product.
