The internal combustion engine has a fuel tank (20), an active carbon container (22) connected to it, and via a tank venting valve (24) to an induction pipe (12) and a crankcase vent (26) that is also connected to the active carbon container. The crankcase vent is connected to the active carbon container via a non-return valve (28) and/or via a choke. AN Independent claim is also included for diagnostic method for an internal combustion engine.
