Metering/test machines (10-12) for measuring/testing a component capture test data (TD) that has been logged in a manner to facilitate allocation of the data to workshops/garages/machines (WGMs) requiring this TD and has been stored in a list (13) on a computer in a log data file with a file name that is not typical of the WGMs that produce/handle the component. The log data is opened and read out or searched regarding the TD stored in it and the related WGMs. An Independent claim is also included for a data carrier for carrying out the method of the present invention.
