System for biometric authentication based on magnetic resonance image of a part of the body, particularly the skull. According to the method the head needs only to be brought close to the imaging apparatus. Independent claims are made for: a recording unit with special micro-coils for detection of magnetic resonance in a very short time, together with an ADC and a computer; a computer unit with special evaluation software; evaluation software; and an authentication system.
