Seal comprises a sealing plate (102) made from a metallic material consisting of a steel having a carbon content of at least 0.4 wt.%, a tensile strength (Rm) of more than 1100 N/mm2 and a breaking elongation (A80mm) of more than 3% at a measuring length of 80 mm. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a seal. Preferred Features: The steel has a tensile strength (Rm) of more than 1200 N/mm2 and a breaking elongation (A80mm) of more than 4% at a measuring length of 80 mm. The steel has a chromium content of 0.2-1.6 wt.% and a nickel content of not more than 2.1 wt.%. The sealing plate has beads (110).
