The device detects the positioning error in a welding bolt (12) upstanding from a component (13) to which it is welded via a sensor gauge (3) with an associated measuring and evaluation device, aligned with a given position for the welding bolt via a robot coupled to a relative displacement control, before movement of the component towards the sensor gauge into a measuring position.
