A workstation for preparation of microtitration plates comprising: (a) a robot to move plates between workplaces in the workstation; (b) a cycled heating/cooling unit; and optionally (c) an automatic plate sealing function to bond a sealing film to a plate, is new. A workstation for preparation of microtitration plates comprises: (a) a robot to move plates between workplaces in the workstation; (b) a cycled heating/cooling unit; and optionally (c) an automatic plate sealing function to bond a sealing film to a plate. The optional plate sealing function is performed by the heating/cooling unit (10). A sealing film (18) is bonded over the microtitration plate (13), using a an adjustable heated cover (20) to apply the necessary pressure and/or heat to seal the plate.
