The pontoon has two square or rectangular-section floats extending along the sides, and the bottom surfaces of the floats are joined together to form a platform. The platform is rectangular and the caravan may be moved onto it on its own wheels. Transverse rods are threaded through the upper parts of the floats and the chassis frame of the caravan to hold it firmly in position.
