Method for vibration and modal analysis using shearography in which the vibration being analyzed is imaged using a stroboscope or another time averaging technique with at least two, preferably orthogonal, shearing directions. A number of shear contributions in the same direction are also recorded. The method can also be applied to contour measurement or strain analysis.
