The current generation device uses solar modules (2) which each have a laminate (5), for converting sunlight into electrical current, supported in a frame (4) provided with a retaining lip (6) at its bottom edge (4a), for cooperating with a retaining arm (8a,8b) of a fixing plate (7) attached to a foundation (3). The fixing plate has a pair of opposing retaining arms on either side of a central anchoring point (10), cooperating with the frames of a pair of adjacent solar modules, at least one of the retaining arms provided with an angled face on its underside, providing a self-clamping effect when the retaining lip is slid under the retaining arm.
