The method involves sensing braking torques and actively damping them under the control of a control unit to which torque sensor signals are fed and that also controls electrohydraulic or mechanical torque influencing arrangements. On detecting low frequency fluctuations or fluctuations synchronous with wheel revolutions the torque imposed by the electrohydraulic or mechanical arrangements is modulated out of phase with the detected fluctuations.
