The arrangement has a control cam roller (12) movable along a cam curve to cause gripper (1) opening and closing movement and held against the cam curve (16) by a controlled spring force. The application force is generated by a torsion rod arranged along a gripper shaft between the shaft and a control arrangement so that the magnitude of the force can be varied with the position of the roller on the control curve during machine operation.
