The arrangement for the driving of a rubber or plastic belt comprises a deflection pulley around which the belt is tensioned, and a drive. A second belt driven by the drive runs between the belt (20) and the deflection pulley (22) and has a frictional engagement with the first belt. The drive belt has a structuring on the deflection pulley side and may be a toothed belt. The drive belt is smooth on the outer side or has a friction value increasing friction lining. The drive belt passes around a drive pulley which has outer structuring to match the inner structuring of the belt.
