The extruder consists of a horizontally operating press next to a heated setting duct. The extruded rope is cut up transversely by a saw and the sawn-up bits (2) are collected in a collector unit. A setting duct is cooled (10) containing its rope or sawn-up bits by inserting a vacuum chamber (1) into the extruder. The free water in the extruded rope is condensed, and the gases, steam and condensate are drawn off. A condensation chamber (7) follows the vacuum chamber. which is connected to a water injection unit (8).
