The connector has an insulated housing which receives an IC card comprising an IC chip. A number of terminals (20) are provided inside the housing, and have contacts (22) at their ends for making contact with the IC chip of the chip card. An operating part (30) is pivotably arranged inside the housing and has a pressing section (33) which abuts the contacts. When an IC card is inserted into the housing, it presses down a surface (32) of the operating part so that the pressing section moves upwards and presses the contacts to the IC chip contacts.
