The coupling unit for producing a cylindrical press union between a hollow shaft (4) and a solid shaft (3) inserted into it comprises a thin-walled socket (2) with a conical outer surface (24) and preferably a conical inner surface (14). It has a thick-walled nave (1) with a conical inner surface (25), a hydraulic chamber (18) and a tool for its installation and dismantling. The axial force for installation of the coupling unit is applied by an external tool, which is connected with the hollow shaft only for installation and dismantling purposes of the coupling unit. The nave with its face side (1a) locates axially on a shaft shoulder (16) of the hollow shaft or on a ring axially firmly connected with the hollow shaft. Through the formation of the nave, socket and hollow shaft together with the ring a hydraulic chamber (18) is formed.
