Shaping a glass blank in a finishing mold comprises establishing a positive liaison between the bottom of the blank inside the finishing mold and a mobile traction organ, imposing a controlled movement to this organ parallel to the mould axis to subject the blank to an assisted drawing, continuing the assisted drawing over at least the major part of the drawing of the blank, introducing a blowpipe into the blank, blowing the blank into the desired shape inside the finishing mold and interrupting the positive liaison between the mobile traction organ and the molded article prior to extraction from the finishing mold. Independent claims are included for the device incorporating this mobile traction organ in a finishing mold and a glass molding installation using such a finishing mold.
