Identification of video or television sequences, using an audible identifier, preferably musical, that is independent of and of much shorter duration than the sequence itself

Method for identification of a file representing a process lasting for a given duration, for example a video sequence or clip, whereby for each file, an audible identification, representing the file contents and having a duration that is much shorter than the sequence duration is associated with each file. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for reading or writing of audible identifiers having a means for automatic generation of a music sequence.
