The debtor and/or creditor companies (1) have signed, with a clearing entity, a contract (10) enabling substitution and compensation operations concerning debts (3) and accounts receivable (4). A server (7) connected to a communication network (8) processes and selects the payments to be made, and effects transfers between the participating companies to settle payments. The system is designed to enable a number of debtor and/or creditor companies (1) to settle their debts (3) and to collect their accounts receivable (4). The companies (1) have signed, with a clearing entity, an adhesion contract (10) granting the entity power to perform substitution and compensation operations concerning debts (3) and accounts receivable (4). The system comprises a server (7) connected to a communication network (8), and a database (9) connected to the server. The server comprises a first processor (14) for selecting debts and accounts receivable fulfilling certain conditions; a second processor (21) for calculating on these basis of these figures sequences of compound chains; and a third processor (29) for retrieving data concerning companies forming each sequence of compound chain.
