The aircraft power unit comprises an engine housed in a nacelle having upper and lower parts (15,16) displaceable between open and closed positions. A force transfer mechanism (26) transfers during the opening and closing movements a gravity force facilitating the movements. The force transfer mechanism has an arm (27) pivoted by one end to one of the nacelle parts in a pivot (33) radially offset relative to the pivoting point (21) of the nacelle part on its support. It also is pivoted by its other end to other nacelle part in a pivot (30) radially offset relative to the pivoting point (20) of this nacelle part on its support.
