New process for preparing (Z)-3,5,4'-trimethoxystilbene from (E)-3,5,4'-trimethoxystilbene, and its use against cancer, malaria, cystic fibrosis and other disorders

Synthesis of (Z)-3,5,4'-trimethoxystilbene (I) by exposing a solution of (E)-3,5,4'-trimethoxystilbene (II) to UV light (200-400 nm) for 1-2 hours for a 0.01 M solution, and optionally evaporating the solvent to recover (I).
