The system has a portable recorder (1) attached to a patient to sample different biological measurements on the patient and record the data. A remote server (3) stores information on the patient and controls communication with the recorder over a telecommunication network (4), using a predefined communication protocol, with the server acting as master and the recorder acting as slave.
