The image generation uses a table of altitude data for each designated pixel. A local working table T1 is recorded in active memory by expansion of a database from a geographic information system. Values are read sequentially and from each consecutive pair, intermediate values are determined by interpolation. A local table is then constructed to include real and the extrapolated values.
