METHOD FOR DRYING LEAF TOBACCO OF AIR-DRYING SPECIES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the formation of TSNA (tabacco specific nitrosoamine) without deteriorating the smoking fragrance and taste of leaf tobacco.;SOLUTION: The drying of leaf tobacco of air-drying species is carried out by spontaneously drying the harvested leaf tobacco to the yellowing period or the browning period and then drying the tobacco subjected to the primary drying step under definite temperature and humidity conditions for a definite period. The forcedly dried leaf tobacco is again spontaneously dried as the final drying step. The formation of nitrite nitrogen and/or nitrosamine in and after the browning period of the leaf tobacco can be suppressed by this method.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
