PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintering type cadmium negative electrode for an alkaline storage battery in which a high electrode plate capacity is maintained in the case a charge and discharge cycle of the battery is repeated, and the precipitation of cadmium hydroxide can be suppressed on the surface of the negative electrode or in the separator adjoining this in the case the battery is minutely discharged under high temperatures and left standing and self-discharged in high temperatures in a charged state, and provide its manufacturing method, and an alkaline storage battery having this cadmium negative electrode. PSOLUTION: In the step S2, a Cd negative electrode precursor 20 is immersed into an impregnation liquid of nickel nitrate (S21) and after drying (S22), alkaline treatment is applied (S23). And, in the alkaline treatment S23, the Cd negative electrode precursor 20 which is immersed into nickel nitrate solution and dried, is, then, immersed in sodium hydroxide solution.
