PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a gate voltage so as not to degrade the display quality even when a vertical scanning frequency or a horizontal scanning frequency changes.;SOLUTION: A display device has a timing controller 301 for detecting the change of the horizontal scanning frequency, a gate voltage generation circuit 305 for generating two kinds of gate turning-on voltages Va and Vb (VaVb), and a switch 303 for outputting one of the gate turning-on voltages Va and Vb supplied from the gate voltage generation circuit 305 in accordance with an output of the timing controller 301. The timing controller 301 has a counter 311 for counting the number of clocks in one horizontal period, and a comparator 312 for comparing the counted result with a threshold A. The lower gate turning-on voltage Va is outputted when the horizontal scanning frequency is in a normal state, and the higher gate turning-on voltage Vb is outputted when the horizontal scanning frequency exceeds a prescribed threshold, that is, the counted value is made smaller than the threshold.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
