PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate the designing of a shock absorber while reducing the labor required and facilitating it by describing the know-how of designing the shock absorber into three-dimensional CAD data.;SOLUTION: A device for designing a shock absorber includes a product data defining part 110 for defining a product shape based on solid model data; a shock-absorber design requirement setting part 120 for setting the shock-absorber design requirements required for the design of the shock absorber; a shock-absorber standard design template part 130 for defining the standard shape of the shock absorber using the solid model data and for defining the dimension data of the standard shape parametrically; and a shock-absorber design knowledge database part 143 for accumulating information on the relationship between the shock-absorber design requirements and the dimension data of the shock absorber standard shape.
