PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input interface facilitating effective selection of a retrieval key in database retrieval, and a retrieval system using it. PSOLUTION: The retrieval system is provided with a full text retrieval engine part 11, an input/output control part 21 for controlling input of the retrieval key and output of a retrieval result in retrieval of a database, and a retrieval system control part 13 for determining a display form of the retrieval key on the basis of information regarding effectiveness of the input retrieval key, namely, a hit ratio or the number of hits. Before retrieval execution of the database by the full text retrieval engine part 11, a display form of the retrieval key is determined by the retrieval system control part 13. The input/output control part 21 controls display of the retrieval key in a display device, and it displays the retrieval key by a display form determined by the retrieval system control part 13.
