PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel having reduced heat deterioration and VUV deterioration, and having improved luminous efficiency by improving crystallinity of a vacuum violet-excited illuminant; and to provide a method for producing the plasma display panel.;SOLUTION: The plasma display panel having a fluorescent layer emitting a light by being excited by vacuum ultraviolet rays includes a vacuum ultraviolet-excited illuminant in spherical fine particle shape in the fluorescent layer. The vacuum ultraviolet-excited illuminant has the spherical fine particle shape different from the conventional plate crystal shape. The illuminant is composed of only a base material and an activator, and has no impurity phase and high purity. Thereby, the fluorescent layer can be formed while keeping the light-emitting luminance of the vacuum ultraviolet-excited illuminant. As a result, the light-emitting intensity at the fluorescent layer is improved and the plasma display with the high luminance is provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
