PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To predict the slippage related to the maximum friction coefficient at braking based on the actual rolling conditions of a tire by measurement as simple as possible and a measurement value as less as possible. PSOLUTION: The automatic control method has a stage for determining evaluation regarding at least a pair of values of "i" or measurement (XSBi/SB, YSBi/SB); a stage for determining the corresponding value of an inclination SBi/SBof a linear line passing through an origin and the point (XSBi/SB, YSBi/SB); a stage for modeling a variation curve SBi/SB=f(XSBi/SB, ASBp/SB) by calculating the coefficient ASBp/SBby a direct calculation or regression from a sufficient number of pairs with (SBi/SB, XSBi/SB); and a stage for calculating a target value XSBmax/SBusing a predetermined invariant "Invt".
