The method and system operates to locking the carrier wavelength to calibrate the laser transport dense wavelength division multiplexer (DWDM), a selected laser. In one embodiment, a wide range of tunable laser to be tuned to one of a set of (ITU) grid lines conveying the International Telecommunication Union for transport through the optical transport fiber laser is (WTL). In order to be locked to the ITU grid line WTL, a portion of the output beam from WTL, and minute split into a set of transfer line the beam to be routed through the etalon, it is detected by the etalon fringe detector.
