PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for controlling the amount of fuel to be injected to an internal combustion engine, particularly, a diesel engine with a common-rail fuel injection system. PSOLUTION: The control method for controlling the amount of the fuel to be injected to the internal combustion engine 1 having a plurality of injectors 4 comprises a step of determining a nominal operation time ESBN/SB, a correcting operation time ESBT/SBand a corrected operation time ESBC/SBas the function of the correcting operation time ESBT/SBeach time for injection. Determination is made by executing a series of operations of the injectors 4 where the operation time ESBT/SBgradually increases in a series of given operated conditions of the engine 1, measuring an amount Acc relating to the output torque of the engine 1 and calculating the correcting operation time ESBT/SBas the function of the amount Acc relating to the output torque.
